Katie Hooper - Massage Therapist

About Me.

Hi! My name is Katie. I have recently qualified from BCMBs remedial and sports massage (RSM) level 5 diploma and I have been practicing complementary therapies since 2018. I am a MTI and CNCH registered massage therapist. Working holistically is very important to me so I make sure to get a good understanding of what's going on for you. I have been working at The Hampton Spa as a massage therapist for over two years, alongside my studying. I am now working out of The Body Pod in Totterdown and The Medical Temple Quay.

What to expect during a treatment with me would be an in depth case history, particularly if you're coming in with injuries - old; new or a particular goal/focus. Then we move on to a postural assessment during which I will be making notes as we go as well a palpation to see what's going on and where! After this we sit down and collaborate on a treatment plan, whether you're coming in for a one off session or 6 - I want you to know why we are doing what we are doing. After the hands on treatment - I will go through some aftercare with you which again is tailored to fit in with your lifestyle. I am very passionate about self love or even body neutrality - anything for us to be kinder to ourselves! I practice intuitive eating and will always recommend finding movement that brings joy.

When I'm not massaging I'll either be cooking; baking or playing a game. My partner and I are cat fosterers for Bristol & Wales Cat Rescue which is incredibly rewarding. We have a deep love for board games and I have found RSM almost like a puzzle with my clients, it's very satisfying making progress together.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage can be very beneficial for long-term back pain or recent injuries. Most musculoskeletal problems can be a result of poor prolonged posture; faulty body mechanics; stressful living; poor working habits; loss of strength and flexibility. Those factors can all have a massive impact on the state of soft tissues and how they move. Remedial massage uses postural and movement assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to help these issues. The goal is to make your body more comfortable to be in.

I combine massage skills with my knowledge of anatomy and physiology to target specific muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments. This can reduce pain, restore normal movement, aid recovery and correct poor posture. Along with these more advanced skills I like to incorporate the relaxation side from my spa work to help reduce stress. Home care in the form of joyful movement and lifestyle advice to help prevent future recurrence of these issues.
